Data Stored Locally

NEXUS stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage API:

• User Preferences: Theme settings, font choices, time format preferences
• Todo Tasks: Tasks you add to the todo list feature
• Focus Timer Settings: Timer duration preferences and session history
• Smart Date Preferences: Which date insights you've selected to display
• AI Learning Data: Tab usage patterns for prediction (local processing only)
• Cache Data: Favicons and fonts cached for performance (stored locally)

Data We DO NOT Collect

• Personal Information: No names, emails, or personal identifiers
• Browsing History: We don't access or store your browsing history
• Website Content: We don't read or access content from other websites
• Analytics Data: No usage tracking or external analytics
• Location Data: No location tracking or geolocation access
• Search Queries: Search queries are sent directly to search engines, not stored

How We Use Your Information

All data collected is used exclusively to:

• Provide personalized extension functionality
• Remember your preferences between browser sessions
• Enable AI-powered tab prediction (processed locally)
• Maintain your custom settings and configurations

Data Storage and Security

Browser Permissions

NEXUS requests the following permissions for functionality:

• bookmarks - Access bookmarks for Quick Shortcuts
• topSites - Show frequently visited sites
• sessions - Access recent tabs for restoration
• storage - Store settings and preferences locally
• history - Access recent browsing for tab suggestions
• tabs - Manage tab operations and predictions

All permissions are used solely for local functionality. No data is transmitted externally.

Third-Party Services

Minimal External Connections

NEXUS makes limited external connections only for:

• Google Fonts: Loading selected typography themes (optional)
• Favicon Service: Fetching website icons for bookmarks (cached locally)
• Search Engines: Direct queries to selected search engines (DuckDuckGo, YouTube, etc.)

No analytics, tracking, or data collection services are used.

Your Rights and Choices

You have complete control over your data:

• Access: View all stored data in chrome://extensions/
• Modify: Change or update preferences at any time
• Delete: Remove all data by uninstalling the extension
• Reset: Clear specific data types through extension settings
• Disable Features: Turn off AI prediction, caching, or other features

Data Retention

• Data is retained locally until you uninstall the extension
• You can manually clear specific data through extension settings
• Browser data clearing will remove all extension data
• Cache data automatically expires and is cleaned up
• No data retention on external servers (because we don't use any)

Children's Privacy

NEXUS does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The extension is designed for general productivity use and does not target children specifically.

Open Source Transparency

NEXUS is open source, providing complete transparency:

• Source Code: Available on GitHub
• Privacy Audit: Code can be reviewed by anyone
• No Hidden Functionality: All features are documented and visible
• Community Oversight: Open to community review and contributions
